**Winner of the 2019 Health Value Award for Program Provider – Specialty Fertility**
Question / Intervention Goal / Objectives
ARC Fertility provides affordable, high-quality fertility care through its program of predictably priced, bundled, evidence-based treatment packages, refund guarantee and financing options. For employers, ARC Fertility’s fertility benefits incur no Per Employee Per Month or administrative fees, require payment only when services are utilized and deliver extensive educational value and concierge services.
The ARC program results in fewer multiple births than the national average, thereby increasing the number of healthy babies and decreasing the cost of health care for pregnancies and babies.
The applicant compared the percentage of treatment cycles resulting in twin births reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) by all clinics nationally with those reported by clinics within the ARC Network over a three-year time period.
Findings / Metric/ Outcome/ Savings
The ARC Network’s cycles consistently resulted in fewer births of twins over three years, compared to the national average. The ARC member multiple birth rate as a proportion of all births declined 3% from 2014 to 2015 (ARC: 12.4% to 10.1%; National: 12.8% to 11.2%) and a further 2.5% from 2015 to 2016 (ARC: 10.1% to 7.6%; National: 11.2% to 8.1%), an overall decline of 5.5%. As a network, ARC Members had reduced multiple births by 5%, which is ½% to 1% better than the national average.
No adjustments were made to reflect differences between ARC Fertility patients and the SART benchmark population.
