PROVIDENCE, RI (September 8, 2016) – Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) announced today that its care management program has been awarded a Certificate of Validation by Care InnovationsTM Validation Institute. The validation verifies that BCBSRI’s comprehensive program for patients with complex medical conditions has created cost savings while enhancing member health.
BCBSRI’s care management program creates a holistic patient experience by coordinating communication and treatment between BCBSRI and a member’s healthcare providers. Patients have direct access to BCBSRI nurses, dieticians, social workers or other medical professionals, depending on their specific medical needs. This coordination can help patients save money on prescriptions, stay out of the hospital and create healthy eating and exercise plans to promote wellness.

The validation, is based on data BCBSRI submitted to the Institute that was then analyzed by objective experts in population health and statistics.
